The H.C. White Company was founded in 1899 by Hawley C. White, an optician in New York City. He began manufacturing stereographs in 1899, branding them "The Perfect Stereograph." White's experience as a photographer and optician, combined with his strict quality control, led him to produce some of the finest stereographs of the era.
