Keystone View Co. stereoscope sold with 90 stereo cards from the United States
The H.C. White Company was founded in 1899 by Hawley C. White, an optician in New York City. He began manufacturing stereographs in 1899, branding them "The Perfect Stereograph." White's experience as a photographer and optician, combined with his strict quality control, led him to produce some of the finest stereographs of the era. White also produced stereo boxes, but these are much rarer than those made by Underwood & Underwood.
The stereo negatives were acquired by the Keystone View Company and incorporated into their catalogue.
In 1898, Keystone began manufacturing and selling stereoscopes.
The company grew rapidly and by 1905, the year the Keystone View Company was incorporated, it was the largest company of its kind in the world.
