Signed and dated Lafon de Camarsac (1821-1905), inventor of enamel photography
Lafon de Camarsac (1821-1905) invented photographic enamels. These were photographic portraits reproduced as enamel plates. He worked with Eugène Disdéri, using photographic prints.
He won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1867.
It was in his workshop that Mathieu Deroche trained and achieved such success that the enameling process would bear his name.
3 rue de la paix is the address of his studio where he presents his vitrified images.
These enamel miniatures are very rare and are traded in the biggest auction houses such as Christie's in London or Drouot in Paris...
