Henri Manuel (1874-1947) was a French portrait photographer.
His portraits were gradually used by the daily press and, in 1910, he created a press service responsible for marketing them: the Henri Manuel Universal Reporting Agency.
Then in 1925, he moved to Faubourg Montmartre, occupying 5 floors, and diversified his production. He worked for fashion and photographed dresses and ensembles by Chanel, Lanvin, Patou, Poiret, Schiaparelli, Lucien Lelong… During the interwar period, he was the most prolific photographer in the fashion sector; he worked for thirty fashion magazines.
