We are attaching a photograph of Galileo's lamp, Pisa by Enrico Van Lint (1808-1884) in Carte de Visite format.
The first graphoscopes appeared in the mid-19th century. They were used to improve the viewing of photographs on paper. They were equipped with a magnifying lens. The model offered here is quite rare due to its size and decoration. Indeed, its use was specifically reserved for viewing business cards, a format introduced by Disderi in the 1850s.
