Francis Frith (1822-1898) was a British photographer and entrepreneur. In 1860, he founded Francis Frith & Co., which would become one of the world's largest photographic publishing houses.
He made three trips to the Middle East between 1856 and 1860, taking with him three glass plate cameras. There he used the collodion process, achieving a considerable technical feat despite the omnipresent heat and dust.
