Emily Webb is one of the pioneering women of portrait photography. She began by assisting her father, and became the owner of her own photography studio in 1864 at 302 Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, where she practiced her art through exceptional portraits of individuals, families with children, pets, and even chickens!
Louis Lagriffe was born on October 3, 1824, in Auch, Gers. Under the name Désiré Lagriffe, he practiced photography in Paris, as did his brothers Jean-Baptiste (1820-1865) and Clément (1828-1899). However, his career as a photographer was shorter than Clément's. He is believed to have worked in Paris between 1860 and 1864, first at 15 Boulevard de la Madeleine, then at 13 Boulevard des Capucines.
