Vintage silver gelatin print of Dora Kallmus, known as Madame d'Ora.
Photograph of American actress Dora Duby in a dress by the Worth fashion house, which regularly designed her costumes. A photograph from the same series was reproduced in the October 15, 1926 issue of American Vogue.
Dora Kallmus (1881-1963) was one of the first women to open a portrait studio in Vienna. Then, in 1924, she opened a studio in Paris dedicated to fashion. She had to flee during the war, and when she returned to Paris in 1945, she photographed refugees and Parisian slaughterhouses while also accepting portrait commissions from Parisian high society.
