Fountain by the sculptor Charles Alphonse Achille Guméry (1827-1871).

Albumen print mounted on cardboard bearing the dry stamp "Ch.Marville, imperial photographer of the Louvre" in the margin at the bottom circa 1860.

The sculptor dedicated the proof on the mounting board, preceding his signature with the words "to Mr. Félon, his colleague" (Joseph Félon, painter and sculptor (1818-1897)). The sculpture bears the exhibition number 3282.

Charles Marville (1813-1879) was an architectural photographer and "the photographer of the Imperial Louvre Museum". He collaborated on the major restoration projects of the time and worked with the historical works department as well as with numerous architects, including Viollet-le-Duc.
