Antique collectible stereoscopic camera in wood, 18 x 24cm format, black bellows with burgundy leather reinforcements. Anastigmat AFR Paris lens, 180 mm f/6.8.
Circa 1900.
Since drawer-style cameras were always too bulky and heavy to transport, manufacturers had the ingenious idea of placing a leather bellows between the two parts of the camera to reduce its size and weight. This allowed these "new generation" cameras to become foldable and offer a truly remarkable aesthetic quality.
