 Ca' Foscari, Venice
 Ca' Foscari is a Venetian Gothic palace located on the Grand Canal, rebuilt by Doge Francesco Foscari in 1453.
 Carlo Ponti (1823-1893), a Swiss optician and photographer, settled in Venice around 1848. There he opened an optical shop renowned for its high-quality instruments. Collaborating with other photographers, he became the official photographer of King Victor Emmanuel II in 1866.
