In the center of the courtyard are two bronze wells, remarkable for the richness of their decoration. They are adorned with bas-reliefs representing sacred scenes related to water.
The courtyard of the ducal palace was accessible to all, allowing the population to use the two large public wells.
Carlo Naya (1816-1882) was one of the pioneers of photography in Italy. After studying law in Pisa, he settled in Venice in St. Mark's Square to open one of the largest establishments dedicated to photography of his time.
