Henri Béchard was a French photographer born in 1830 and active until his death in 1889. He opened his photographic studio in the Ezbekia Garden in Cairo in 1869. His work is distinguished by the superb quality of his prints and the generally spectacular presentation of everyday scenes. His urban landscapes and cityscapes were mostly taken from unusual angles in an attempt to adapt to narrow and confined spaces.

Located near Aswan, on the island of Philae, this temple dedicated to the goddess of love and magic is among the best preserved in Egypt. This ancient sanctuary is a true architectural marvel.
