Autochrome LUMIERE & FILS, "Soldiers in the Garden" circa 1915
Very beautiful autochrome, Lumière, of two soldiers in a garden.
The colours, and especially the reds, are remarkably well preserved.
In his passe-partout A.LUMIERE & SES FILS-LYON - R.DECHAVANNES, PARIS.
The Autochrome image has a distinctive appearance, often described as soft and slightly blurred, with pastel colors reminiscent of an Impressionist painting. This is due to the nature of the potato starch grains and the method of filtering light.
"This is not a snapshot, but the reproduction of a frozen and composed moment, illuminated by an impression, a sensation of color generated by multiple touches of pigment shaped by the brush of light." - Institut Lumière
