Jean-Pierre Aurélien de Sèze (1799-1870) was a politician, lawyer, and president of the Bordeaux bar association. He is particularly known for having been the platonic lover of George Sand, which inspired some of the author's writings. He also played an important political role in the Gironde region in the mid-19th century, notably as the Gironde's representative to the Constituent Assembly in 1848.
