Ambrotype of a family of musicians, a father and his three children all wear a tricolour scarf with musical instruments: clarinet, triangle, drum and flute.

In a varnished pitch pine wood frame.

Patented in 1854 by James Ambrose Cutting, an ambrotype is a negative on a glass plate, which, when viewed in transparency, becomes a positive when placed in front of a black background.
