Blanche Pierson (1813-1896) was a French actress born on Réunion Island. Born into a theatrical family, she was quickly noticed for her charm and blonde beauty. She achieved great success with Dumas in *La Dame aux Camelias*. He even wrote of her: "Absolute conscience, probity beyond praise, love of her art, respect for the public—these are the qualities of a truly great actress, and I know of no one who possesses them as completely as Blanche Pierson."
